Step-by-Step Guided Instructions
Pull outer pan out from air fryer. Place 1 slice of stale bread or 2 tbsp water in the bottom cavity below the wire basket. Reinsert basket.
The bread or water catches dripping hot bacon fat and stops it from smoking on the heating element.
Lay 6 slices of thick-cut bacon flat on the basket grate. Slight touching is fine as bacon shrinks rapidly under convection heat.
Do not overlap bacon edges or they will stick together and remain soft.
Cook at 375°F for 9 minutes total. At 5 minutes, use tongs to turn strips over.
375°F renders fat gently without scorching the protein edges.
Transfer bacon immediately onto a paper towel-lined plate using tongs. Let sit 60 seconds to finish firming up.
Bacon continues to crisp for 60 seconds as surface fat drains into the paper towel.
The single slice of bread in the bottom pan absorbs rendered lard and completely stops white grease smoke from triggering your kitchen smoke alarm.
Serve with scrambled eggs and toast cut into dipping triangles.
