3-Step Execution Protocol

1
Preheat & Prep

Add frozen meatballs in marinara (instant pot) (2 lbs frozen fully-cooked beef meatballs added to 1 jar (24 oz) marinara + 1/2 cup water in a 6-qt Instant Pot, no thaw) to the Instant Pot inner pot. Seal the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select High Pressure (5 min) with 5-min natural release for 5-min pressure + 5-min natural release (~20-min total).

2
Pressure Cook

Cook at High Pressure (5 min) with 5-min natural release for 5-min pressure + 5-min natural release (~20-min total). Use 10-minute natural release.

3
Check & Rest

A meatball cut in half is heated uniformly through with no cold pocket at the geometric centre; the sauce has thinned slightly from the released meatball juices; a probe reads 160°F+. After 10-minute natural release, carefully open the lid away from you. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Verification Basis & Testing Rig

USDA FSIS 160°F ground meat safe minimum internal temperature; Rosina Foods "Instant Pot Cooking Chart" for frozen fully-cooked meatballs (5-min HP for 2 lbs); tested in Instant Pot Duo 6-qt with Rao's marinara.

Pro Tip: Fully-cooked frozen meatballs (Rosina, Cooked Perfect, etc) don't need long pressure — they only need to be thawed and heated through, plus enough time to marry the sauce. 5 minutes is calibrated for that; longer just breaks the meatballs down into crumbles in the sauce.
