Add whole chicken (3–4 lb) (3–4 lb whole chicken, seasoned, on trivet, 1 cup water) to the Instant Pot inner pot. Seal the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select High Pressure (239°F / 115°C) for 25–30 mins.

2
Pressure Cook

Cook at High Pressure (239°F / 115°C) for 25–30 mins. Use 10-minute natural release.

3
Check & Rest

Leg joint moves freely; juices at thigh joint run clear; thermometer reads 165°F+ at the thickest part of the thigh. After 10-minute natural release, carefully open the lid away from you. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Verification Basis & Testing Rig

Instant Pot Duo 6-Qt (IP-DUO60); USDA FSIS 165°F poultry standard; tested with 3 lb and 4 lb birds.

Pro Tip: Place chicken breast-side up on the trivet. For crispy skin, broil in the oven for 3–5 minutes after pressure cooking.
