Step-by-Step Guided Instructions
Place 6 cold large eggs directly on the air fryer basket grate. Space them out so hot air circulates evenly around each shell.
Eggs should be cold directly from the refrigerator to control cooking time precisely.
Set air fryer to 270°F. Cook for 13 minutes for jammy soft yolks, 14 minutes for creamy medium yolks, or 15 minutes for firm hard-boiled yolks.
Cooking at 270°F prevents internal steam from cracking the shells during the cook.
While eggs cook, prepare a bowl with 2 cups cold water and 2 cups ice cubes. As soon as the timer ends, use tongs to plunge eggs directly into the ice bath. Soak for 5 minutes.
Shocking stops the cook instantly and causes the egg to shrink slightly inside the membrane, making peeling effortless.
Tap the wider bottom end of the egg firmly on the counter to crack the air pocket, roll gently, and peel the shell away in one continuous sheet.
Peeling under a trickle of cold tap water helps wash away microscopic shell fragments.
The temperature MUST be set to 270°F. If you set it higher (e.g. 350°F), the moisture inside will boil rapidly and explode the eggshells inside your basket.
Slice in half, sprinkle with a dash of mild paprika and salt, or mash with mayonnaise for quick egg salad.
